Teletherapy

Teletherapy is effective.

Clients tell me that teletherapy is as effective for them as in-person therapy. Having our sessions over the computer or via phone makes it possible for them to gain the support they need, when they need it.

Before COVID-19 came on the scene, I already had teletherapy clients who chose this means of maintaining vital support because they travel for work, they prefer a life of travel, or live bi-coastally.

Some clients are often away at college or graduate school, and still other clients are full-time caregivers of either adults or children. Teletherapy for these clients is a saving grace. It provides safe, convenient, and consistent support.

Skepticism turned to enthusiasm.

When I was first approached by a client who asked specifically for teletherapy with me, I was skeptical.

I thought, “How can a body-mind psychotherapist work effectively with people without being in the same room with them?”

Today, I am consistently reassured by the effectiveness and intimacy of having face-to-face virtual sessions, and voice-only sessions are a very fruitful way to work with people who would rather not look at a screen for some reason or have vision challenges.

Based on my studies, I learned that voice-only therapy allows certain aspects of imagination and reverie to operate that are offline when a client has visual contact, either in person or via screen.

Teletherapy is convenient.

When all therapy moved online in late March of 2020, some clients were very hesitant to begin teletherapy, convinced that in-person therapy would be the only way to benefit from the process.

Now, every one of my clients who initially resisted teletherapy has adjusted well and continues to benefit. Some people who originally said, “As soon as this is over, I am back in the office!” have decided that their lives will be simplified by continuing teletherapy, even if in-office sessions were available.

Whether you have been on-board with teletherapy from the start or you have put off therapy for logistical reasons, teletherapy is a convenient and effective way to get the support you need and in a way that feels most relaxing and supportive of your lifestyle.

You can have a session over a lunch-hour at the office, on the phone while parked in nature, and while taking a walk in the woods. Or maybe, you choose teletherapy because it serves your desire to make the most of your time.

Teletherapy is secure.

There are several applications that make teletherapy secure. It is HIPAA-compliant; calls and virtual sessions are simple and easy to access.

I often use Zoom, with which I’ve never had a security issue and also have used Doxy with equal success.

Teletherapy may not be a suitable option if…

You are in an acute crisis and require a higher level of care.

You don’t have access to WiFi Internet.

You are in an active state of addiction or eating disorder.

You lack privacy in the location at which you would receive teletherapy services.

Teletherapy is effective, convenient, and secure. No more excuses…

When you’re ready to get started, I’ll send you a link, either via Zoom or doxy.me, for a virtual office invitation.
